The Hobby Lobby FMS003 F-4 Phantom ARF Military Scale R/C Jet comes with a 70mm ducted fan unit, powerful outrunner motor, 5-servos, and a 4-cell lipo pack! This all-molded foam airplane comes completely painted in an attractive matte finish with waterslide decals already applied. The 70mm fan with brushless outrunner motor is pre-installed, as is the 45A brushless speed control. The EDF jet has 5 pre-installed servos to control ailerons, elevators, and nose wheel steering. Landing gear is fixed but can be easily removed for hand launching. Battery changes are made quick by simply removing the canopy that is held in place with magnets. The jet is large enough for good visibility in flight, yet is easily transported. www.rcuniverse.com www.rcuvideos.com http www.kaango.com

RC Helicopters

If you are looking to get into the world of RC helicopters there are many options to get you started.  Before you begin though you should be forewarned that mastering remote control helicopter flight is not easy.  They are one of, if not the, toughest radio controlled vehicles to master.  There are definitely different levels of remote control helicopters to choose from.  I would start out small then work your way into one of the full blown gas powered models.

You can pick up a toy grade RC heli for fairly cheap online or at the nearby hobby store.  This style of helicopter will fly very differently from the hobby grade version but many of the flight characteristics will be similar.  The most enticing thing about this level of RC helicopter is it’s cost.  Typical hobby level copters can sell for many thousands of dollars where as the toy copters will only set you back a few hundred.  The main difference between the hobby and toy level of copter is their speed and stability.  The toy level is designed to be much more stable so that a child or young teenager can easily master it.  They usually will be much slower than the hobby copters.  In addition they generally will not be made to look like any real world helicopter.  There design is purely function first with appearance second.

When you start looking at the hobby level RC helicopters you start to get into units that are more model like than toy like.  Often times these copters will be built to specifically mimic real world copters.  In addition many of them will fly like real world copters.  Once mastered they are incredibly fast and maneuverable, however getting to this stage takes quite some time and probably a few crashes as well.  It is for this reason that you should not over invest in your first couple remote control helicopters.  Once you have mastered the toy level stepping up to the hobby level is a great revelation as there will be many more controls you have access to.  Generally a toy helicopter will have a few simple controls.  The hobby versions will have the ability to control the pitch of the blades and tilt of the main rotor in addition to the tail rotor.  With all of these controls working in concert there is virtually no maneuver that you can not accomplish.  In addition to being able to hove in place and move around with a hobby grade radio controlled helicopter you can perform high speed chases, loops and rolls, or even in some cases inverted flight.  None of these maneuvers are able to happen in the lower toy class.

As you can see the distinction between the two types of helicopters is pretty dramatic.  Once you are ready to step up to the hobby radio control helicopter though you will never want to go back.  These machines can provide all the control and thrill of real helicopter in a pint sized format.  They even can go beyond what a normal helicopter is capable of and perform maneuvers that pilots can only dream of.
